American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical encounter. She performed on the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop education began when she grew up.
